About this work

Description

Letters from Mary Dendy, Honorary Secretary for the Incorporated Lancashire and Cheshire Society for the Permanent Care of the Feeble-Minded, to Galton.

Dendy discusses her observations of children and families at the Sandlebridge Boarding School, her theory that for every child they take in they prevent the birth of three children with learning difficulties, and her theory that families with a history of learning difficulties have high birth rates.

Enclosed are two copy forms for admission to Sandlebridge "Special Classes", one annotated "a large family", one "a decadent family". The forms provide information on children admitted to Sandlebridge, their immediate family, and educational attainment; personal details have not been included in the copy information.
