Some anomalies will be noticed in this sequence. It is possible that there were in fact 2 alphanumeric sequences, since different subjects have in some cases been assigned, in some cases, the same reference. In a few cases the relationship between the subject and the alphanumeric reference assigned seems a little obscure. A number of subject files created during this period do not have identifiable alphanumeric references and have thus been slotted in under the initial letter of the title.
