About this work

Description

Collection of alchemical works, including four tracts by Christophorus Parisiensis; with some added receipts in Italian. The main texts written in an neat humanistic hand. 25-27 lines to a page. Ornamental initial I in red and blue on fol. 1, a few other initials in alternate red and blue: headings in red. On fol. 63 is a faint pencil drawing of a symbolic alchemical figure, and on fol. 115v a pen-drawing of a chemical flask.

1 volume 144 ff. + 3(4) bl. ll. 4to. 21 1/2 x 14 1/2 cm. Original limp vellum binding. Last (blank?) leaf wanting, and ff. 123-130, 134-137.

Biographical note

The poem by Daniel Riginus (No. 9) is printed in Nazari's Della tramutatione metallica sogni tre', Brescia 1599, p. 159.
