"Community healing methods remain the only form of healthcare accessible to millions of people worldwide, including many West African populations. Yet, these forms of care are often excluded from the Western healthcare discourse. Stigmatization of traditional healing practices is leading to the extinction of ancient methods and leaving entire communities without an alternative form of care. Meanwhile, foregoing evidence-based treatments for belief systems is a common occurrence with often grave consequences. I chose the comics medium to address diverging healthcare beliefs and practices because of its easily accessible narrative format. With written and graphic storytelling techniques, we can learn by exploring our shared humanity through experiences.
