Correspondence and notes chiefly relating to research on nerve membranes, including: notes on Heinrich Waelsch and Abel Lajtha, ‘Protein Metabolism in the Nervous System’ Physiological Reviews, 1961; notes made at the Gordon Conference on the Cell Nucleus, 1964; correspondence with Peter Davison, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, 1966-1967, relating to the supply of samples for Wilkins’ research using gelled axoplasm/neurofilament protein; notes on bilayers, Oct 1967; offprints of ‘Structure of Frog Photoreceptor Membranes’ by Allen Blaurock and Wilkins, published in Nature, 30 Aug 1969, with related manuscript graphs and Fourier syntheses used to ascertain the structure of retina membrane; photocopy letters to the Principal of King’s College London, 1971-1973, relating to College funding for the Biophysics Department and possible financial cutbacks; two line graphs showing frequency patterns, labelled ‘film 171’ and ‘sperm 110’; brief undated note on neutron diffraction; lecture notes on the subject of the neurological composition of the brain and the comparative anatomies of other animal brains.
