Project Summary:The Tide Tables Tour will extend the reach of a performance work premiered in 2009, making it available to more venues and a wider audience. Originally written in consultation with Professor of Endocrinology Saffron Whitehead, The Tide Tables engages the audience in an exploration of the midlife climacteric phase (‘change of life’) from a combined biomedical and narrative perspective, including the physiology of menopause and the history and nature of HRT. The work combines original music (a capella choral, sung solo and violin) by composers Sianed Jones and Mary Keith and spoken blank verse text by writer-performer Christine Watkins.
