About this work

Description

A. W. Haggis, a member of the Historical Medical Museum staff, was commissioned by the Wellcome Trustees in 1939 to write a biography of Henry Wellcome ('The Life and Work of Sir Henry Wellcome'). However, the Trustees were dissatisfied with the final draft of 1942, and although an abridged version was produced in 1944 (''The Wellcome Foundation. The Story of the Founder and His Work') the biography was never published.

This series contains research notes generated by Haggis.

The Wellcome Archives (WA) contain the drafts of Haggis's biography, see: WA/HSW/PE/C.10; WA/HSW/PE/C.11, WA/HSW/PE/C.12; WA/HSW/PE/C.13; WA/HSW/PE/C.14; WA/HSW/PE/C.15. (Duplicates of this material, found when cataloguing WF/M/H/05, have been removed).
