Biographical note

Set up in 1990 with membership consisting of representatives from the Policy and Resources, Industrial Relations, Education and Professional Practice Committees, the Working Party aimed "to ensure that appropriate work relating to physiotherapy helpers, health care assistants and vocational qualifications [was] carried out effectively". The "Helper" grade was created in the early 1970s but was not officially recognised by the CSP until 1992. The Working Party was created to support Helpers through these changes and to define an official role and skill set for these members. See also the Physiotherapy Helpers/Assistants Board (SA/CSP/J.5/12/2) and Physiotherapy Assistants Network (SA/CSP/J.5/12/3).
