Description

Series consists of papers, correspondence and cassette tapes related to the seminar on "Oral Contraceptives", which was held at the Wellcome Institute on 20 June 1995. The seminar was part of the Wellcome Witnesses to Twentieth Century Medicine meetings also known as the Witness Seminars. Unlike most other seminars, the transcript of this seminar was not published.

Opening remarks for the seminar were made by Sir Christopher Booth (Convenor, History of 20th Century Medicine Group), the Chair was Dr Margaret Thorogood (London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine). The organisers of the meeting were Dr Lara Marks (Medical historian, Imperial College of Science & Technology & Medicine), and Dr Till Tansey.

The witnesses for the seminar, as opposed to attending guests, were Dr Carl Djerassi (Stanford University, U.S.A.), Sir Richard Doll (Oxford University), and Professor Victor Wynn (Director, Wynn Institute, London).
