About this work

Description

A mounted painting in Rita Simon's Archaic Massive style, depicting the head and shoulders of a woman. It was created by a male tuberculosis patient and was his first attempt at painting a head. The artwork was reproduced in Adrian Hill: Painting Out Illness. This information is taken from conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been taken from wording written on the verso.
