About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Transition and Traditional Massive styles depicting shapes and hieroglyphics in front of desert mountains. The artwork has been classified as Traditional Transition on the verso, but Rita Simon considered the skyline to be painted in a Traditional Massive style. It was produced by a patient at a psychiatric day hospital.

Reproduced in The Symbolism of Style fig.11.2, p108 and discussed on p179.

The title has been taken from wording written on the verso..

The date has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
