Description

Volume of student notes taken by Martin in surgery lectures. Volume dated Feb 1908. No end date is given. The only other date given is May 1908. Ff.1-92 notes various conditons and their treatments, mostly relating to bones and limbs, including flexor metatarsis lameness, spavin disease, shivering, thrombosis and paralysis of tail. it also describes various surgical procedures, such as castration. Ff.93-98 describes the number and type of teeth at various ages of a horse, an ox, a sheep, a pig and a dog. Ff. notes condtions and treatment of other parts if the animal including caries, cataract and bulging cornea. Ff.123-127 blank. Ff.128-176 notes conditions relating to reproduction, including sterility, gestation, inverted womb and tumours in udder. Ff.177-183 notes types of shoes and conditions affecting animals' feet and how to treat them, including contracted feet, canker and seedy toe. Ff.184-198 blank. Inserted at f.131 paper for the surgery examination, Dec 1907. 198ff. Most of the text is on the recto, the verso being left blank.
