Biographical note

Charles McMoran Wilson was elected Dean of the Medical School of St Mary's Hospital in November 1920 and remained Dean until 1945. During his period as Dean he was responsible for establishing two clinical units, rebuilding the Medical School and establishing a system of nomination scholarships which involved him in a fierce controversy with other medical schools. Professor Lovel used papers relating to St Mary's Hospital in his biography. These papers are now in section L.1-4.
