A lengthy address on behalf of the Defendants, concluding: "You will, I feel sure, recognise that this laboratory carried out its work for the good of humanity with the highest degree of medical skill and that what it has done in general work was done in this particular case and that the attempt to place responsibility upon this laboratory for this said [sic] and tragic occurence, cannot be sustained."
