Description

Cases include sudden deaths from a variety of natural causes, accidents (including medical accidents, especially anaesthesia-related), suicide, and criminal abortion, also suspicious deaths of infants, as well as cases of murder and manslaughter. Among the cases of particular interest: strangulation by ligature, 18 Dec 1944, "several french letters & other debris on floor"; 3 month baby smothered, 22 Dec 1944; coal gas poisoning, suicide, 30 Dec 1944; numerous inserted, mostly typed notes, on Metropolitan Police form slips, mainly re cases at Hackney Mortuary, some, handwritten, re cases at St Pancras;
