Also includes dissertation, "Some Facets of Social Interactions Surrounding the Midwife's Decision to Rupture the Membranes", 1984.

The study concerned the artificial breaking of the waters (ARM, rupture of the membranes), and the impact of this on labour and birth. The study was based on 3,000 NCT questionnaires and over 700 letters returned by mothers who gave birth in 1987.
