A New or Improved Instrument or Appliance for Administering Medicine to Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Dogs, or other like Animals. We, George Thompson, of Alexander Street, Horton Road, Bradford, in the County of York, Joiner and William Thompson, of 9, Buckingham Street, Bolton Road, Bradford, aforesaid, Driver, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows:— This invention relates to a new or improved instrument or appliance for administering medicine to horses, cattle, sheep, dogs or other like animals. For thus purpose we employ a barrel or the like adapted to contain a “ ball” or other convenient form of medicine. This barrel is fitted with a piston or plunger behind which a spiral or other spring is mounted tending to force the plunger to its outward limit. A rod is fixed to the back of the plunger extending into the stock or handle of the barrel and a stud or other projection on the rear of the rod projects through a longitudinal slot in the stock. To use the instrument the plunger is drawn back into the barrel by means of the said stud or its equivalent projecting through the slot in the stock and is retained in that position by said stud being turned into a notch in the said slot. Then the medicine is placed in the barrel and the latter is passed into the mouth of the animal to the top of the throat when the said stud is released consequently the plunger springs to the nozzle of the barrel and the medicine is discharged therefrom down the animal’s throat. Any other similar form of trigger for retaining and releasing the plunger may be employed. Dated this 17th day of January 1895. DRACUP & NOWELL, Bradford, Agents. COMPLETE SPECIFICATION.
