About this work

Description

Original ms draft of the second edition of The Surgeon's Pocket-book. An essay on the best treatment of wounded in war. The draft is bound into a volume from the Army Medical School, Netley. Thus, Porter has used only the recto from ff.1-43, the verso having older text on it, which has been scored through. Pages of printed text and illustrations from the original edition have been pasted into the volume, with annotations, and additional ms text. 17 loose illustrations have been inserted at f.2.
