Description
Campaign against the commissioning of the Thermal Oxide Reprocessing Plant (THORP) at Sellafield, Cumbria.
Includes papers concerning a public consultation on the authorisation for the British Nuclear Fuels' (BNFL) Sellafield site, mostly relating to Medact's submission as part of the consultation. Also includes reports, lobbying letters, articles, press releases, and related papers and correspondence concerning THORP, plutonium, and associated potential health risks. Includes correspondence with the Department of the Environment, Greenpeace, and other organisations concerning the THORP legal case and public policy.
The British Nuclear Strategy Group were also involved in campaigning against THORP; these records are held within SA/MED/H/6/5.
