Biographical note

Stated by Duhem, bookseller of Montpellier, from whom this MS. was purchased, to have been written by Jean Baptiste Silva [1682-1742], a pupil and follower of Chirac. MS. 1606 [Chirac] is by the same hand. He was responsible for the publication of a posthumously issued work by Chirac in Paris, 1744-45, entitled 'Dissertations et consultations médicinales'.
