About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Massive Transition style, depicting a bird and boat on the sea. It was produced by a middle aged female patient at a psychiatric day hospital with the pseudonym "Miss Pett", who also produced the artworks in PP/RSI/B/2/4/27 and PP/RSI/B/2/4/28.

Reproduced in The Symbolism of Style fig 7.3, page 116.

The title has been taken from the caption used in Rita Simon's publication.

The date has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
