Flour beetle

This false coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) shows a flour beetle. Flour beetles are members of the species Tribolium and are adapted to survive in very dry environments and often found on stored products. Although they are a major pest of cereals and wheat products they do not carry germs or disease.
