Biographical note

The author obtained his M.D. in London in 1907, and was elected F.R.C.S. Eng. in 1909. He served with the R.A.M.C. in Mesopotamia 1916-18, and was consulting surgeon to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington. Among other works he wrote a History of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, published in 1959.
