The Advertising’ of Mr. Jeffreys’s Respirators has been most unwillingly permitted by him, on account of its empirical associations; hut it is rendered imperative by the fact, that no small proportion of those most benefited by them would otherwise have remained ignorant of their properties. The Public are not aware how difficult it is, even for the first and best in the profession, to view, without prejudice, a remedy so simple and harmless as to require no exercise of their skill, and so effective as to render many a patient altogether independent of their advice. Many medical men do recommend the use of Mr. Jeffreys’s Respirator, but there are, at all times, numerous persons who can testify to the greatest benefit from a use of them, in opposition to professional advice against the employment “ in their particular cases,” and often in favour of some utterly inefficient substitutes And furthermore, there are hun- The Hand Oral Respirator, held in the hand and applied 10 the Mouth.
