LETTERS PATENT to James Edward Moles worth, of Jeypore, Raj poo tana, a Province in British India, Electrical Telegraph Deptt, for the Invention of « Improved Apparatus for the Application of Electricity for Dis¬ infecting and Curative Purposes.” Sealed the 22nd August 1876, and dated the 28th February 1876. PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION left by the said James Edward Molesworth at the Office of the Commissioners of Patents on the 28th February 1876. James Edward Molesworth, of Jeypore, Rajpootana, a Province in British India, Electrical Telegraph Deptt. « Improved Apparatus for the Application 5 of Electricity for Disinfecting and Curative Purposes. ’ This Invention relates to improved apparatus for the application of electricity for disinfecting and curative purposes, and consists mainly of a chair with arms, in or upon which plates are arranged, and another plate in oi upon the back, eithei or all of which plates can by a depression be put into contact with insulated 10 conducting wires led up the frame from a battery fitted to the chair to complete the circuit. \ * ,, . . . . The battery is removable, and is preferably composed of a box containing the usual negative and positive plates immersed in a bath of sand, sal amoniac, powdered*on the top and wetted with water for charging or exciting purposes. 15 Instead of the pole plates on the chair being put into electrical contact by a depression they can be screwed down when desired; and then when a person places his or her hand upon either of the plates the circuit becomes complete, the human body acting as the conductor for the earth current. . ' The strength of the current to be imparted depends upon the number ot elements 20 of the battery put in operation by an attendant; thus he can regulate the electrical action upon a patient according to the nature of the disease and the disinfecting desired.
