Description

A number of letters sent from Sir Anthony to his wife in from January to May 1917, as Bowlby served in the First World War in France. Includes a letter to Sir Anthony about Brown University cooperation protest to the President of the United States against the deportation of non-combatant populations in Belgium and elsewhere by the German government. One of the letters addressed to Bowlby's son, contains two small fragments of shrapnel shell.
