Description

Registration for Torbay, Colvend, certifying that Crichton Royal Hospital Board of Management have been registered by the Local Authority of the Stewartry and Kirkcudbright under the National Assistance Act, 1948 and the National Assistance (Registration of Homes) (Scotland) Regulations 1949, as running a holiday home for patients of Crichton Royal Hospital. The certificate is signed by the Depute Clerk to the Local Authority.

Biographical note

A five year lease was signed for Torbay. Crichton Royal Hospital hired several holiday homes for the patients along the Solway Coast at Southerness and Rockcliffe. After significant fundraising by the Crichton Royal Hospital League of Friends and hospital staff, Solway Holiday Home was built and opened in 1978 at Southerness.
