EDSALL, M.D., Philadelphia, Pa. \ In recent times the pathogenesis of the toxic amblyopias in general and particularly the alterations which are produced in the ganglion cells of the retina and optic nerve by the action of quinine, methyl alcohol, and fihx mas have attracted much atten- tion. For a full consideration of the literature of this subject and the various views of experimenters and observers, the reader is referred to the papers of Ward Holden^, Drualt, NueP, Uhthof¥^, Siegrist^ Uhthoff and Groenouw^ NohP, Birch- Hirschfeld^, de Schweinitz^, and Schieck^*^.
