    019,043 Date of Application COMPLETE SPECIFICATION. Improved Apparatus for Blowing or Distributing Medicated Powders and the like. I, James Chant Class, of 123, Gilmore Place, Edinburgh; Scotland; ^Dis- pensing Chemist; do hereby declare the nature of this invention, and in what manner the same/is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement ; — 0 My invention relates to the production of an improved apparatus for spraying medicated powTders and the like. It is intended primarily for medical purposes, and in the case of affections ,of say the throat or nose the powder to be sprayed on the affected parts, will contain any medicament that may be prescribed, such as menthol, boracic acid, iodoform, or their equivalents. The apparatus can of 10 . course be employed for spraying purposes other than those specified without departing from the nature of my invention. The annexed drawing is intended to illustrate one form of apparatus according to my improvements. A is the vessel containing the medicated powder to be sprayed. J 5 B is the air bellows or bulb with pnlet valve. C medicated powder. D cork or closure for mouth of vessel A. b flexible tube. c inlet pipe or tube. 20 d outlet pipe or tube. e nozzle or jet of sprayer. The vessel A for containing the medicated powder C may be of glass and of the shape shown, or it may be of any other material, say a flexible ball and of any desired form. The air pressure is preferably obtained from the india rubber 25 air bellows or bulb B1 fitted with the usual inlet valve .and connected by the flexible tube b to a glass tube c of small bore through which the air passes down when the bulb B is pressed by hand and displaces that ,in the vessel A where it diffuses, and, thoroughly mixing with the medicated powder C is with the powder caused to pass through the vulcanite or other outlet pipe or tube d (of a ;]() large bore to prevent the powder choking the orifice) out at the nozzle or spraying jet e. A cork D or the like is used to effect an air-tight closure at the mouth of the vessel A. I do not confine my invention to the particular construction and shape shown and described as it will be open to modifications in practice according to the 35 requirements of user.
