This volume contains likewise notes and cuttings on 1) acute anterior poliomyelitis in adults and epidemics of acute 'polio-encephalo-myelitis' 2) aetiology and general subject of acute anterior myelitis and its relation to polioencephalitis and sporadic basal or sporadic cerebro-spinal meningitis 3) Points of special interest regarding anterior poliomyelitis such as when it affects muscles of the abdominal wall--possibly causing 'spurious ventral hernias' and when it causes paralysis of the diaphragm or the muscles of costal respiration or when it causes paralysis of muscles connected with the vertebral column leading to scoliosis or lateral curvature; or polioencephalitis when it causes 'cerebral diplegia' (also cuttings etc re congenital defects of abdominal muscles and allied subjects--defects of thoracic wall, congenital absence of pectoral muscles etc 4) Acquired cerebral diplegia in children and adults; especially when apparently due to polioencephalitis 5) 'Syphilitic poliomyelitis' 6) the clinical syndrome of 'Landry's paralysis' and 'acute paralysis' (ascending or descending) 7) Bell's facial palsy and poliomyelitis ?
