Biographical note

Edmund Duncan Montgomery (1835-1911) was physician at the German Hospital and Bermondsey Dispensary, London, and demonstrator of morbid anatomy at St. Thomas's Hospital; subsequently he emigrated to America and wrote on the nature of protoplasm.
