About this work

Description

Script for a novel, entitled 'Along the Way', with a few manuscript corrections and amendments. Pages numbered consecutively, pp.1-361.

This is a semi-autobiographical novel, presented as an account of the early life and psychiatric training of the fictitious Dr Gerald Ogmore. It is set in South Africa and starts in 1950 when Dr Ogmore embarks on a six months residence at Weskoppies, the mental hospital in Pretoria, and ends with him setting off for Capetown.

It is unclear when this version was written but it is probably the 1970s or 1980s from the typeset.
