1981
Wellcome Foundation Ltd news release regarding a party of six MP's who visited the laboratories at Beckenham, accompanied by several photographs of the meeting dated 16th June 1981. A further article details how a bullock escaped from the laboratory (Beckenham Journal, 19th March 1981).

1982
A transcription of a speech by A. J. Sheppard, Chairman, Wellcome Foundation Ltd, at the opening of the Wellcome Diagnostic Building and published as a news release, dated 18th December 1982.

1983
Wellcome Foundation Ltd news release (15th July 1983), accompanied by a letter from Nobel prize-winner John Vane at the Wellcome Research Laboratories and a statement, both concerning the use of animals in scientific research (July 1983). Attached is a record of achievement, which is a timeline of Wellcome Foundation Ltd discoveries and developments from 1894 to 1982.
An assortment of press articles are given concerning a week long animal demonstration that took place at Wellcome Research Laboratories in Beckenham from 23rd July 1983, with a reported 700 campaigners and a substantial police presence. Some articles report the debate that preceded the march, including comments from the then MP Sir Philip Goodhart (Beckenham Journal, 21st July 1983) and some detail the violence that resulted. Further coverage debates the cost of policing demonstrations (Beckenham and Penge Advertiser, 21st July 1983), pet snatching (Orpington Comet, 1st July 1983) and Wellcome Laboratories experimenting on the offspring of rare owl monkeys on loan from London Zoo (Beckenham Advertiser, 30th June 1983).
