Biographical note
The Birth Control Trust publishes pamphlets on aspects of birth control, abortion and population and acts as an information resource centre. Since it is a registered charity it can defend existing law but cannot campaign for changes. The Birth Control Campaign acts as the pressure group of the Birth Control Trust (although it was set up before the Trust in 1971). The Campaign takes political action in the form of lobbying for National Health Services in this field, and defends and promotes existing legislation, such as the 1967 Abortion Act.
