Biographical note

The Association of Community Physiotherapists was formed on 1 March 1980 for the purpose of "facilitating interchange of thought and ideas between members [and] To improve communication and understanding between the various interested bodies e.g. hospitals, social services, voluntary groups, responsible for community physiotherapy." The Association initially left the word "Chartered" out of their title to avoid excluding non-practicing chartered physiotherapists. The name was changed to the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in the Community in 1992.
