Description
A few entries have been crossed through, either with pencil or ink. Some entries appear to have had text appended to them.
A pencil note 'Old Book' is inside the front cover. Inside the back cover is a note 'Go to the New Book' in pencil, and at the end of the last page in ink is a note 'Go to No. 2 Book'.
ENTRIES AS FOLLOWS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS NOTEBOOK:
p. 1 'On the Fly Powder' - including details of manufacture, mixture of ingredients used, calculations of quantities (p. 15), notes on different attempts to produce the product, the costs of raw materials, sales for 1868 by month (p. 31), for 1869 (p. 43)
p. 45 'Fly Powder Experiments April 23rd [18]69' - including details of variations on the manufacture of the product, the results of these experiments, observations on production processes, sales for 1870 by month (p. 71), for 1871 (p. 83).
p. 85 'Fly Powder 1871' - includes details of the product, observations on manufacture, sales by month for 1872 (p. 99), notes on the 1872 season (p. 102)
p. 41, p. 44, p. 82, and p. 84 are blank.
The front of the notebook has a label affixed for 'Cooper's Fly Powder - Pierce this label for the holes in the canister, and do not remove the top'.
Enclosed are notes on Fly Powder (one Feb 1891, torn in two, headed 'Black Book For Accidents &c', the other 'Fly Powder 1891' apparently detailing costs of raw materials used), Wheat Dressing (5 Mar 1888, detailing quantities) and one note with sundry figures marked in pencil.
