About this work

Description

Copies of Patients Association daily sent letters (out letters), in chronological order. These are of varying length, to government, organisations and associations, public, media, colleges, hospitals, members, etc., ranging from routine to detailed matters. Include notes and memos of phone calls received and actions taken, comments by the Patients Association on government proposals, provision of information and advice to individuals, responses concerning complaints about the health services. The letters were answered by W E Acheson, Executive Secretary, and Dame Elizabeth Ackroyd, Chairman.

These letters are a good indication of the extent and range of the Patients Association's activities and methods of consumer advice provision, as well as the level of interest taken in individuals cases.
