Text of hearings before the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US House of Representatives, 17th Congress, First Session on H.R. 8128, to authorize a permanent annual appropriation for the maintenance and operation of the Gorgas Memorial Laboratory, 20 January 1928.

Including statement to the Committee by Henry Wellcome (pp32-52). Wellcome describes his experience of Tropical Medical Research, giving an overview of the establishment and work of the Wellcome Tropical Research Laboratories and the Wellcome Bureau of Scientific Research. He also recounts his experiences of visiting Panama in 1910 and his opinion of General Gorgas's work there re the building of the Panama Canal.
