Description

Grego describes the witches as "two witches of orthodox type, with broomsticks, red cloaks, and steeple-crowned hats". The yokel-type in the lower left corner enters the trapdoor to the hayloft holding a pitchfork and a lantern: Grego calls him "a rustic clown [who] is paralysed with horror and affright at the unholy spectacle" of the witches
