About this work

Description

Sketch-book containing 24 anatomical pencil-drawings, copied from the 'Anatomie des formes du corps humain à l'usage des peintres et des sculpteurs' Paris, by Antoine Louis Fau [1811-1880]. Besides the copied figures from Fau's atlas, there are also a few figure-sketches, etc. in pen and pencil. Pasted inside the upper cover is a lithographed Ex-libris inscribed in the centre 'Henry Sykes 1873', below this very faintly written in pencil, 'Drawn on the stone by H. Sykes.' Fau's work was translated by Robert Knox [1791-1862] in 1845, and these copies are perhaps made from that edition: the legends are in English. Produced in Paris.
