Reproduction of two photographs of a man using a rubbing board oracle and a gourd of water to wet the lid. The photographs were published in Evans-Pritchard, E. E: <i>Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande</i>, Oxford, The Clarendon Press, 1937.  Copies of the book plates were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10961).
