About this work

Description

A bundle of copy letters and notes, sent from Sydney and Auckland, implicitly to Henry Wellcome. Originally clipped together with a note (retained) stating that they were received 12 February, 1883.

The file comprises:
1. Letter headed "Sydney Dec 7th '82 / SS Armoata - for Auckland". Refers to orders for Lundborg perfumes. [1 sheet]
2. Letter headed "Dec 7, 82, Sydney to Auckland". Refers to supplies for agents to be sent c/o Elliot Bros or Prosser & Co. "I think both these houses will do their best for us. A nice sample case...should be supplied to each of these houses...." [1 sheet]
3. Letter sent from Auckland (20 December, 1882) to The Owners of the Whale Ship "Splendid", at Dunedin. Refers to the ship's stock of ambergrise. Burroughs advises them to offer it to Messrs Weeks & Potter of Boston, or Young, Ladd & Caffin of New York (both of whom Burroughs says he represents). "I expect to be at Dunedin in about a month." [1 sheet]
4. Notes "Re Hazeline preparations". Detailed marketing suggestions. Refers to Pears soap. [4 sheets]. 5. A note addressed to Henry Wellcome ("Re Donaldson Bros - Printers") asking him to obtain, from New York, samples of their work, which will "take the conceit out of our English printers who brag about the superior quality of their work as an apology for very high prices." [1 sheet]
6. Note "Re parcels and letters to India Ceylon etc." Lists of agents to receive goods. [1 sheet, numbered 13]
