About this work
Description
The annual reports are bound and printed. They contain lists of Governors and their addresses, establishment staff at the hospital, report of the General Committee, accounts, report of the Medical Officer(s), Medical Superintendant(s) or Physician(s) with statistical tables concerning patients including figures on durations of attacks, patients' weights, religious persuasion and occupations, by male and female, lists of legacies, donations and annual subscriptions.
By 1900, the Reports include Reports of the Commissioners in Lunacy's (later Board of Control) visits to the hospital and branches during the year, for example:
'A good dinner of rabbit pie and two vegetables we saw served in Female Wards, but we did not hear any grace said before the meal, which is a subject of regret'. (see H64/A/09/006 page 46). By 1912, the Reports also include Chaplain's reports and more detailed patient statistical tables by possible factors influencing cases.
There is one report for 1916-1923 which gives a history of the hospital and summary of developments since 1916 and Medical Report for 1923 for the Neurological Clinic, the Middlesex and Saint Luke's Hospitals Conjoint Clinic.
H64/A/09/001 contains a 19th century printed elevation of the hospital. The Reports for 1900 include pictures of the Convalescent Home at Nether Court, Saint Lawrence-on-Sea, Ramsgate, Kent (see H64/A/09/006). Reports for 1912 also include pictures of the front aspect, carriage drive and beech wood at Welders, Buckinghamshire.
