There is a Hippodrome theatre behind them. The word: 'Machnow' is visible in letters on the roof and there is also a poster with his name behind him. Above the image are the words: Hammerstein's Victoria Roof Garden, New York where Machnow was probably appearing as part of a freak or variety show. The card would have been sold as a souvenir.</p>
