Description
A sequel to the Dōchū hizakurige series of comic travelogues by Jippensha Ikku (1765-1831). It consists of 15 woodblock printed volumes, of which the first 11 were written by the satirist Kanagaki Robun (1829-1894) and the remainder by Fusō Hiroshi, and published between 1870-76.
This copy is incomplete, consisting of vols.1, 2,10 and 15 only. Contains both polychrome and monochrome illustrations. Vol.15 was illustrated by Kawanabe Kyōsai (1831-89) and the others by Utagawa Yoshiiku (1833-1904), a pupil of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, who became a newspaper illustrator after the Meiji Restoration.
