Biographical note
Founded in 1972 by Mrs Penny Copple based on the principles of the Bagot-Stack system of exercise, the EXTEND training programme aimed to promote the quality of life for the over sixties through movement to music. Initially supported by the The Women's League of Health and Beauty, it eventually became a registered charity in recepit of funds from the Department of Health and Social Security. The CSP provided some advisory support and allowed for individual members to engage with local EXTEND branches, although it was never officially affiliated with the charity.
