About this work

Description

Formation of this Sub-Group was first suggested during the Society's Course for experienced Hearing Assessment Medical Officers, April 1966. The Sub-Group was established in 1967 to provide a forum for LA Hearing Assessment Medical Officers to discuss problems and further their professional education, and also to encourage the direction of LA Diagnostic Audiology Clinics by doctors as opposed to teachers of the deaf.

Part of the annual meeting, or study day, was held jointly with the British Society of Audiology, (also recently formed) until 1970, when difficulties arose in agreeing topics for discussion. The final study day was held at the Wellcome Foundation in May 1971. At a meeting of the Committee on the same date doubts were expressed as to the viability of the Sub-Group meeting only once a year, and with the impending reorganisation of the Society it virtually ceased to exist (see P.9/28).
