Description

Note-book containing Latin essays, probably written when an undergraduate at Oxford. Used later as a commonplace book by the Rev. Stephen Jenner [1702-1754], from 1744 to 1751: with an entry dated 1754 written by his son Stephen Jenner [1738-1797]. The original owner matriculated at Magdalen College in February 1704. Signature of 'S. Jenner, Vicar of Berkeley 1744' written inside the lower cover. The 12 ll. are by the hand of Thomas Jenner. The entry concerning an election result (at Berkeley?) is found on the last of the 34 ll., and is dated 1754.
