Biographical note

The first formal meeting of the IEA in 1957 was supported by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, whose support in the early years of the IEA contributed significantly to the Association's expansion, education and training programme, and publication activities. The on-going relationship with the Foundation subsequently provided important support to the IEA's liaison and collaboration work with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and for its regional activities. The Rockefeller Foundation has continued to support the Association with grants and resources, such as co-sponsorship of scientific meetings and publications.
