Biographical note
Names of nurses who had qualified for appointment as Queen's nurses were submitted to the Patron for approval, and entered on the `Queen's Roll of Nurses', which was in volume form up to 1937, when it was decided that the format was insufficiently flexible for the amount of detail being entered, and a change was made to cards. From 1963, the card `Roll' does not appear to have been maintained, and files were kept (J.6/1-12) recording the training details of `student district nurses' (ie nurses who were enrolled as Queen's Nurses after training), by Roll number, up to 1969, when the Institute ceased to have direct involvement in training.
Related material
All of the surviving cards and training files have been microfilmed, since they were too bulky to keep in hard copy. Examples have been kept of each type of record J.7.
